WARSAW, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Legia Warsaw came from a goal behind to win over Wisla Krakow 3-1 on the road in 28th round of the Polish football Ekstraklasa on Sunday.

The team, coached by Aleksandar Vukovic, are on their way to win the title as Legia won four of their last five matches and they maintain an 8-point advantage over the second Piast Gliwice.

An attacker Tomas Pekhart, who led the team to massive victory against Lech Poznan on Tuesday, proved his top form again. After the break the Czech turned the game into Legia's favor by scoring twice just in 13 minutes.

In the first half Wisla played bravely and they were rewarded in the 29th minute. Lukasz Burliga's precise shot from the edge of the box into the far post beat Legia's custodian Radoslaw Majecki to put the hosts in front. Legia could respond immediately but Luquinhas put the ball over the crossbar.

The visitors turned the pace after the restart. Mateusz Cholewiak's pass from the left wing allowed Tomas Pekhart to make it 1-1 on the scoreboard from a very close range in the 57th minute. The forward found his second with 20 minutes remaining as he put his header home after a good free kick's cross by Domagoj Antolic.

Legia continued the momentum and they killed Wisla's hopes on a good result thanks to Valeriane Gvilia, who lifted the ball over the goalie in a one-on-one situation.

Shortly afterwards Wisla could be back into the game but the referee cancelled the Brazilian Hebert's goal by the VAR due to the handball.

The White Star conceded their second consecutive defeat after losing against Piast Gliwice, while Legia made another huge step towards the title as they still sit at the top with an 8-point advantage and 9 games to play.

"In the first half we didn't play the way we wanted. We competed with an aggressive, well-organized team that took advantage of their chances and scored a goal. After the break we showed that we have character. We didn't lose our heads, we were able to play better. It helped turn the match and I would like to congratulate the team. We're not talking about an easy case," commented Legia coach Aleksandar Vukovic.
