John is thirteen now. He began to study in a middle school two years ago. His family is in a small village and it's nearly1 five kilometers2 from the school. He has to get up early in the morning. After a quick breakfast he has to run to school to get there on time. His father hopes4 to borrow5 some money to buy a bike for him, but he know his mother is always ill and his father spends much money on her medicine6. He doesn't agree7 with him and keeps running8 there every day. Now he's very strong and never late for class and his teachers often praise9 him.
Last week there was10 a sports meeting11 in their school. John ran12 faster than any other boy and won13 the boy's 800 metres14, 1,500 metres and 3000 metres. He got15 there gold medals16 and the whole17 school knew him. His classmates and teachers offered18 congratulations19 to the boy and he was happy. He told his grandma about the good news20 as3 soon as he got home.
"I broke21 two school records22 today, Granny." called out the boy.
To his surprise, the old woman wasn't happy. She thought23 for a while24 and said25, "I am sorry to hear that. We have no money to pay26 for them, you know!"
