MADRID, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The EuroLeague on Monday officially brought its 2019-20 season to an end due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Barcelona-based organization behind Europe's most important basketball competition decided to cancel both EuroLeague and EuroCup competitions, after a meeting of the 11 clubs which comprise the organization's board.
The decision means the 18 teams in this season's tournament will all feature in next season's competition.
The EuroLeague had originally suspended matches in early March, but had hoped to resume in the summer. However, it was decided at Monday's meeting that "the different evolution of COVID-19 in different countries does not allow us to guarantee that all of the teams will be able to organize their training in equal conditions."
