NANJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua on Friday urged efforts to improve rural infrastructure, public services and living environments in a bid to ensure rural areas complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Hu stressed pushing forward the "toilet revolution" and effective sewage disposal in rural areas at a meeting held in the city of Xuzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province.
The vice premier underscored the launch of rural health campaigns and the acceleration of rural waste treatment programs to promote steady improvements in rural living environments.
He also called for efforts to work out rural vitalization plans, protect arable land, stabilize grain and hog production, and do a solid job of preventing and relieving agricultural disasters.
China launched a "toilet revolution" in 2015 to increase the number and raise the standards of toilets at tourist sites. The campaign expanded to improve public toilets in cities and build better private toilets in rural areas.
