At eleven o’clock in the morning, the most of the staff of garden centre they took the break and have a nice cup of tea or coffee in the staff tea room.
Break time is short, just 10 minutes, but there is lots of news about the garden centre, UK, even the world. It’s so interesting! The talking topics are broad. I’d like to talk with everybody and everybody would like to talk with me too, doesn’t matter whether I could understand them, or whether they can understand me. I never thinking the language is a big barrier1 for communication.
Before 2005 Christmas day, somebody was talking about displaying the DUNKABLES biscuits boxes on the shop floor, I just got the "DUNKABLES", it sounded like ‘DONKEY2’ ball. Suddenly I chimed in:
"Donkey ball!? What’s the donkey? What’s the donkey ball? We sell donkey ball here, it’s so strange!"
Everybody burst3 out laughing, after that, the "donkey and donkey ball" was on everybody’s lips4, we talked often about it.
One morning when I met TONY, after we greeted each other, I asked him:
"Where is your donkey ball?"
"I lost my donkey ball last night." he said.
"TONY lost a donkey ball last night." become the latest news in the tea room and our garden centre that day.
