水过鸭背，贬义词，比喻事过之后没有留下一点痕迹。
“水过鸭背--溜”这句俗语，广东人大概没有不知道的了。它看来是一个英文成语的翻译∶ like water off a duck's back。
“像鸭背抖落水点一样”这比喻几乎是不用解释的∶鸭毛有油质，不会吸水。鸭子只要抖抖身体，附在羽毛上的水就会一点不留了。所以，人们常用 like water off a duck's back 这成语来说“(忠告等)毫无作用”或“像耳边风一样”，例如∶ Their well-meant suggestions rolled off the dictator like water off a duck's back(他们善意的建议，都给那独裁者当做耳边风)。
最后不妨附带一谈的是∶duck字一般兼指雌鸭、雄鸭;专指雄鸭的drake字很少用。当然，假如duck、drake两字并用，那么，duck自然是专指雌鸭的了。
